There was a minor upset when 5th rankedSanta Ana (6-7) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Independiente (6-6) 99-88 on Sunday. Independiente outrebounded Santa Ana 43-28 including 34 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Independiente especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 68.8 percentage. American guard Darnell Johnson (201, college: CSUSB, agency: Gulf Coast Hoops) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The other American import forward Noryen Lasley (201, college: Ave Maria) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. Puerto Rican forward Xavier Zambrana (193-1991) produced a triple-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists and added 30 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Five Independiente and four Santa Ana players scored in double figures. Independiente moved-up to sixth place. Loser Santa Ana dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost.
